Branch Tapestry Weaving

  • The Lyons Farmette 4121 Ute Highway Lyons, CO 80540 United States (map)

Come weave with us!

Perfect for those new to weaving, branch tapestry weaving is a fun way to play with color and texture, using the branch's organic shape to guide your design. Allie will show you the step-by-step method for creating your branch weaving, starting with warping the branch, starting your weaving, playing with different textures, incorporating organic shapes, and finishing the weaving. You'll walk away with a small piece of sculpture, inspired by nature! All supplies and tools will be provided, including branches, thread, and yarn. Participants are welcome to bring their own yarn, if they prefer. Students will also receive a take-home kit to make an additional weaving on their own. Ages 10 and up.

A little background info on Allie, your instructor:

At an early age Allie learned to make things by hand, using what nature abundantly offered. Currently, her primary focus is teaching people how to sew and weave. She's enamored with natural basketry, tapestry weaving, and botanical dyeing. And while she enjoys a quiet day working on these projects, what lights her up most is sharing this knowledge with others. You can explore her work at allieolson.com
